Triton Football: Pulling Out All The Stops
FULTON – What a time for Triton’s offense to come alive. The Trojans hung a 50-spot on Caston Friday night in a 50-0 romp in the opening round of the Class 1-A Sectional No. 43.
Rigo Butler and Bo Snyder each scored a pair of rushing touchdowns while Snyder threw two more and added a two-point conversion. Butler finished with 125 yards rushing, scoring on plays of 20 and 12 yards. Snyder scored on carries of two and 15 yards, and passed to Tye Orsund for 35 yards and Drew Stichter for 24 yards for scores. Snyder finished with 214 all-purpose yards for the Trojans, which stacked up 418 total yards against a porous Comet defense.
Triton’s defense was stout, allowing just 109 total Caston yards, none of which came passing the ball. Triton picked off two of the four pass attempts, one each for Malachi Greene and Caden Marr.
Caston (2-8), which shut Triton out in week one, 6-0, really struggled down the stretch of the season, scoring just 14 total points in its final seven games, five of those games shutouts including Friday night’s loss.
Triton (2-8), which has scored 124 points in its last three games after managing just 70 in its first seven weeks, will advance to host Southwood, a surprise 28-14 winner over Three Rivers Conference champion Northfield.
