Jenny L. Layne
Jenny L. Layne, 58, Akron, passed away at Lutheran Hospital, of Fort Wayne Oct. 14, 2016.
At Woodlawn Hospital, Jan. 19, 1958, Jenny L. Nicodemus was born. She was the cherished daughter of Ralph and Betty Smith Nicodemus. With great pride, Jenny graduated with the class of 1977 at Rochester High School.
Annually Jenny planted a truck patch garden. From the harvest she shared the produce with family and special friends. Each spring she planted flowers to enhance the landscape around her home. In the early years she was a groupie of the country band, “The Country Travelers.” To relax she listened to their music at home along with other country music from the 70’s and 80’s.
Paramount in Jenny’s life was her family. She was always up to entertaining, extending invitations to family, friends and neighbors. From her kitchen command post she created many custom dishes delighting her guests. Grandma Jenny cherished the time spent with her grandchildren making many memories.
Left to cherish Jenny’s memory are three sons: Tony DeMarco of Michigan City; Troy DeMarco and fiancee’ Sarah Kirkland of Akron; Jack Floyd and wife Jen of South Bend; a daughter, Nicole Green of Plymouth; seven grandchildren: the DeMarco children: Sam, Lilli and Trent; the Floyd children: Jackson and Jensen; Hunter Green and C.J.; three sisters: her twin, Penny Pike and husband Richard “Fuzzy,” Rochester; Bev Ramsey and husband Verlin of Akron; Sandy Smyth and husband David of Talma; a brother John Little, Rochester. Her former husband Morry DeMarco and wife Jennifer and their children: Seth DeMarco; Ashlee Smith and husband Justin; and Morry DeMarco Jr.; two brother-in-laws: Denny DeMarco and wife Diane; Marty Haffey. Numerous aunts, uncles and cousins also survive.
Jenny was predeceased by her parents Ralph Nicodemus; James and Betty Nicodemus Little; niece Amanda Kay Ramsey; and sister-in-law Barb Keffader.
A celebration of the life of Jenny L. Layne will be held at 11 a.m. Friday, Oct. 21, 2016, in the Good Family Funeral Home, 1200 West 18th Street, Rochester. Her family will receive friends an hour prior to her services. Burial will follow in the Athens-Hoover Cemetery near Athens.
