Valley Football: Vikings Fall To Southwood
WABASH – The Tippecanoe Valley football team saw its winning streak come to an end Friday night.
Host Southwood got a huge night from quarterback Carson Blair in topping the Vikings 49-29 in a Three Rivers Conference playoff game and the regular-season finale for both teams.
Blair threw for 317 yards and six touchdowns as the Knights snapped Valley’s three-game winning streak.
Southwood led 28-14 at halftime after outscoring the Vikings 21-7 in the second quarter. The Knights then outscored Valley 21-0 in the third period to take command at 49-14.
Blair finished 13-20 through the air for the winners.
Alec Craig was 7-12 passing for 65 yards, including a 23-yard touchdown toss to Wes Melanson, for the Vikings.
Desean Heckman led the ground game for the Vikings with 22 carries for 84 yards, including a touchdown.
The pair of Noah Miller and Dakota Gaff each also had a rushing touchdown for the Vikings.
Valley, which falls to 3-6, will host West Noble (3-6) in a Class 3-A playoff game next Friday at 7:30 p.m. Southwood, which improves to 6-3, will host Northfield (8-1) in a first-round playoff game at 7 p.m.
