Triton Football: Travelling Trojan Goes To Bourbon
FRANCESVILLE – Not only did Triton pick up its first football win of the season Friday night, but the boys from Bourbon took home the ‘Trojan Trophy’, beating West Central 41-14.
Triton put together its best offensive game of the season, running up 406 total yards in a balanced attack. Rigo Butler led the rushing attack with 19 carries for 132 yards and two scores. Max Slusser added 91 yards and a score on the ground, part of a 174-yard ground game.
In the air, Bo Snyder was 10-19 for 174 yards and three scores. Zac Pitney was again the big target, catching five passes for 112 yards and two touchdowns while Drew Stichter had three catches for 34 yards and a score. Stichter led the defense with 10 total tackles.
Triton held just a 20-14 lead at halftime, but did all the scoring in the second half, Butler doing the honors of two of the touchdowns.
Triton’s defense caused five West Central turnovers.
Triton (1-8) will take on Caston in the first round of the Class 1-A sectional next Friday, a rematch of the week one matchup that had the Comets beat the Trojans 6-0.
