UPDATE: Accident On Center Street
WARSAW — One person was airlifted and two people were transported to the hospital after a two-vehicle accident at the intersection of East Center Street and Eastlake Drive, Warsaw.
At approximately 12:25 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 12, Milton E. Smiley, 66, West Snyder Road, Warsaw, was westbound on East Center Street, preparing to turn south onto Eastlake Drive. Smiley turned and crashed into Kathy G. Adam’s vehicle, 67, South SR 5, Larwill.
Adams stated she was traveling eastbound on East Center Street. She said the light turned yellow so she accelerated to make it through the light. Smiley then turned in front of Adams.
Smiley admitted fault in the accident. His vehicle suffered heavy passenger side damage. Air bags deployed in Smiley’s vehicle and the front seat passenger, Wilma C. Johnson, 71, West Snyder Road, Warsaw, had to be extracted from the vehicle. Johnson was transported by helicopter to Lutheran Fort Wayne. Smiley was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital with complaint of neck pain.
Adams’ vehicle suffered heavy front end damage and airbag deployment. Adams was transported to the Kosciusko Community Hospital due to chest and neck pain.
Damages up to $50,000.
