Warsaw Man Arrested For Theft of School iPad
WARSAW — A Warsaw man is being charged with theft after selling an iPad owned by Warsaw Community Schools.
Allan Bryant Frye, 2815 Glad St., Warsaw, is being charged with count I theft, a class A misdemeanor, and theft enhancement, a level 6 felony.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Sept. 23, an individual contacted officers and advised he believed he had purchased a stolen iPad that belonged to Warsaw Community Schools. The individual explained that on Sept. 23, he had been at McDonald’s when Allan Frye approached him. Frye had explained to individual that he needed money and wanted to sell his iPad for $45 to the individual. Frye had the power cord and case with it. The individual purchased the iPad for $45.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, the buyer advised when he arrived at his residence, he attempted to factory reset the iPad to clear the information that may have been on it. He then discovered the iPad belonged to WCS and was registered to a student.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, an officer spoke with Allan Frye, who advised a friend had given him the iPad, but Frye refused to give the name of the friend.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, the officer went to McDonald’s and viewed the surveillance video. He observed the individual who bought the iPad speaking with a McDonald’s employee. In the video, Frye walked up to the counter and spoke with the buyer and the McDonald’s employee. The Mcdonald’s employee then reached under the counter and gave the iPad to the buyer who then gave money to Frye.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, the McDonald’s employee advised Frye had come to the counter and request that he hold the iPad for him. He advised it is common practice for McDonald’s employees to place items under the counter for safekeeping. The employee explained an individual came to the counter and Frye asked if he wanted to purchase the iPad because he needed money. Frye then asked the employee to give the iPad to the buyer and he did.
Frye was also convicted of theft on July 7, 2014 in the Kosciusko County Superior Court 3.
Frye was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Oct. 10 on a bond of $5,250.
