WARSAW — In mid-September, Warsaw Community Schools Superintendent Dr. David Hoffert and Chief Academic Officer David Robertson were selected by the White House to participate in a summit on innovative practices in secondary schools. The event took place on the White House complex and included twenty leading school corporations from throughout the United States.

Warsaw Community Schools was selected due to their innovative practices, industry partnerships and wide curricular offerings. During the 2015-2016 school year, Warsaw Community High School students earned over 1.3 million dollars in Dual/AP College Credits. The industrial partnership and focus on STEM education has become a nation-wide model.

The day was spent collaborating with Federal educational leaders on the subject of best practices in college and career pathways, social emotional wellness of students and ways to best partner with industry needs.Other participants included the Federal Secretary of Education John King, Special Olympics chairman Tim Shriver, Stanford and national education expert Linda Darling-Hammond, PBS President and CEO Paula Kerger and multiple other national leaders in the education field.

Dr. David Hoffert stated, “It was an honor to share the great work taking place in the Warsaw Community Schools through highly trained educators with the collaboration of local industry and community support. We look forward to expanding our partnerships and curriculum to ensure we continue to stay on the cutting edge and forefront as a leader in public education.
