Grace Baseball: Screeton To Serve As Interim Coach
WINONA LAKE – The Grace Athletic Department has suspended the national search for a new head baseball coach until the spring of 2017.
Current interim coach Cam Screeton will serve as the interim head coach for the year, including the upcoming 2017 spring season.
“We have been very pleased with Cameron’s leadership this fall and look forward to him directing the baseball program as the interim head coach for the 2016-17 season,” said Grace Director of Athletics Chad Briscoe. “We will reopen our search process next spring. I look forward to Coach Screeton’s continued impact on the baseball program this year and appreciate his commitment to the mission of Grace College and his passion to build character and impact lives for Christ through the game of baseball.”
Screeton served as an assistant coach for the Lancers last year. He helped lead Grace to 20 wins for the third time in program history. Grace’s 20 wins in 2016 represented the third-highest single-season win total in the team’s 57-year history.
“I am blessed and thankful to be leading the Grace College baseball team this season,” Screeton said. “I’m proud to work for an institution who puts Jesus Christ at the center, and I am thankful for the support I’ve received from Chad Briscoe and the rest of the athletic staff. I am excited for the baseball season ahead as we have a great group of talented and committed student-athletes.”
