Henrietta M. Byrer
Henrietta M. Byrer, 97, Columbia City, died at 7:55 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 5, 2016 at her home.
She was born May 8, 1919 in Albion, a daughter of Charles and Edna (Campbell) Freidt. Her formative years were spent in Noble County where she completed her education.
On Jan. 3, 1970 she was united in marriage to Donald F. Byrer. They made their home in Nappanee and later Kosciusko County until 1980 when they moved to Louisiana. In 1984 they returned to Columbia City, moving to their present home in 1987. Mr. Byrer died July 2, 1997.
Henrietta worked at the garment factory in Kendallville, G & W Pizza in Syracuse, Essex in Ligonier, Warsaw High School janitorial department, cook at 9 & 6 Drive-In and later The Truck Stop, S & L Truck Stop, The Columbia, The Eagles and lastly did mending for customers at home.
She was a member of Faith Baptist Church and Eagles #1906 Auxiliary.
Surviving relatives include seven children: James LeRoy Rodman of Columbia City; Lotta JoAnn (Joe) Hapner of Syracuse; Thomas Franklin Rodman of Kendallville; Albert Dean Rodman of Columbia City; Betty Jean (James) Stephens of Paris, Ky.; Dickie Wayne (Debbie) Rodman of Kendallville; and Jeffery Lynn (Vickie) Rodman of Garrett; 25 grandchildren; and several great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband, she was preceded in death by a son, Glade R. Rodman; and a sister, Luella Dressler.
The funeral service will be held at 4 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 9 at Smith & Sons Funeral Home, Columbia City with visitation from 2 to 4 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Burial will be at a later date at Sparta Cemetery, Kimmell.
