Preliminary Plat Approved By Planning Commission
WARSAW β During a short regular monthly meeting of the Kosciusko County Area Planning Commission Wednesday afternoon, Oct. 5, in Warsaw, the APC approved a preliminary plat petition for Ricky Watters.
Watters wants to have a mobile home put on a lot off the east side of Palestine Lake, south of Lakeview Park Drive and near Bruner Road in Harrison Township. The property was rezoned to residential in September.
Dan Richard, area planning director, noted at least 50 feet of frontage off a public right of way is required and that requirement has been met. A portion of an access lane will need to have at least 35 feet of setback (it has 10 feet now) and the preliminary plat was approved contingent upon the 35 feet being noted on the final plat.
There were no remonstrators present at the meeting, but Richard said a letter of remonstrance had been submitted by two nearby property owners who said more traffic would be created on Bruner Road and it is not a county maintained road, so they are opposed to approval of the plat. But Richard noted the road is in fact maintained by the county. Lee Harman, chairman of the APC, said allowing one mobile home would not create an excessive burden on nearby property owners.
The only other agenda item was a petition for Mike Jefferson to rezone ground from agricultural to residential on the east side of CR 500E, south of Wooster Road in Washington Township. Richard said the petitioner had a change of plans and requested the petition be dropped, which was approved by the APC. βHe may decide to sell the property or do something else with it,β Richard said.
APC meetings are open to the public and are held at 1 p.m. the first Wednesday of each month in the old courtroom, or the commissioners room, of the county courthouse in Warsaw.
