Solar Panels Installed At Warsaw Schools
WARSAW — Three solar arrays, or solar panels, were recently installed at Warsaw Schools. Students will soon be able to monitor the solar arrays on laptops, smartphones or iPads.
Collier Solar, a part of Collier’s Heating and Air Conditioning, recently installed at three Warsaw schools, and are in the process of installing a fourth. One of the solar arrays is at Edgewood Middle School and two are at Washington Elementary School. Collier’s is still working on installing one at Lincoln Elementary School, however, it has not been completed yet as the school is currently under construction.
Three of the four arrays installed are adjustable. The adjustable arrays will allow for kids to experiment with how effective the array is when it is positioned at various angles.
All the energy generated from the solar arrays will go directly into the schools.
Joe Collier, owner of Collier’s Heating and Air Conditioning, was approached by Warsaw Schools to build solar arrays that would allow teachers to provide training and teaching about solar energy. Collier stated the arrays should be completed hooked up within the month, allowing kids to observe how much energy is gained from the arrays.
Collier’s will be going to the schools twice a year to teach a basic solar class. This is Collier Solar’s sixth year of installing solar arrays.
