Crews Start Roofing Job, Find Out They’re At The Wrong Church
CLAYTON — Putting a new roof on a church is a big job.
But it turns out the people working on a Hendricks County church made a big mistake. By the time crews were halfway done tearing shingles off the First Baptist Church of Clayton, they realized they were working at the wrong church.
The workers should have been at the Presbyterian church a block away.
The contractor says he will finish the job he mistakenly started and the Baptist pastor says he forgives the mistake.
“If you own up to it, everything will work out. As the Bible says, your sins will find you out. Your mistakes will come back to haunt you if you don’t own ’em up, but once you do, I think everything will work out,” said First Baptist Church of Clayton Pastor Robert Sampson.
Workers realized they were on the wrong roof when a delivery driver with the load of new shingles noticed the address on his delivery order did not match the location of the work being done.
