Bertha Palmer, 88, Edwardsburg, Mich., passed away Saturday, Oct. 1, 2016 in the Riverside Village in Elkhart.

Bertha was born March 12, 1928 in Plymouth to Harry and Alice (Montague) Griggs. Bertha worked at Pilgrim Manor Nursing Home in Plymouth as a nurse’s aide. She was a longtime resident of Elkhart moving from Plymouth. Bertha became the bride of Ormand M. Palmer on March 12, 1978; he preceded her in passing on July 21, 1993.

Bertha is survived by her two daughters: Tisha and Frank Asbury of Elkhart; Donna Russell of Argos; daughter-in-law, Sherry Kline of Edwardsburg, Mich.; her two sisters: Donna Grossman of Plymouth; and Juanita Hawthorne of Plymouth; seven grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild. Bertha is preceded in passing by her son, Kenneth Lloyd in 2011 and her brother, Bud Griggs.

The Van Gilder Funeral Home is honored to be in charge of the arrangements for Bertha E. Palmer. According to Bertha’s wishes there will be no services at this time.
