Valley Volleyball: Rochester Keeps Pace In TRC
AKRON – Tippecanoe Valley returned to Three Rivers Conference volleyball Monday night, but faced a stiff test in backyard rival Rochester. The Class 2-A No. 7 Zebras would reel off the sweep, winning 25-23, 25-12, 25-20.
Valley had Sophie Bussard and Abby Betten lead with six kills each, Betten and Shayleigh Shriver each recorded eight digs. Shriver, who set a school record with 29 points scored in a 25-0 romp and three-game blitz of Culver Thursday night, had three aces against the Zebras. Emily Peterson added 16 assists.
Rochester moved to 23-5 overall and 7-1 in the TRC while Valley sits at 17-10 and 2-5. The Vikings visit Whitko Wednesday while Rochester will try to keep pace with Maconaquah with its final TRC match next Wednesday at Peru. Maconaquah is 8-0 in the TRC, having already beaten Rochester, with one final TRC match against Northfield.
The Tippecanoe Valley JV team beat Rochester 25-18, 25-16. Stat leaders for the Vikings were Allison Betten with five aces and four digs, Sarah Myers with six assists, Allison Miller with four digs, and Gabby Olson, Rachael Randall and Hannah Jansma all with two kills.
