Valley Soccer: Lions Bounce Vikings From Sectional
ARGOS – The sectional experience for the Tippecanoe Valley boys soccer team was short lived Monday night. In the first night of the tournament at Argos, Bremen eliminated Valley by a 3-1 count.
In its first-ever IHSAA tournament match, Valley and Bremen were scoreless throughout the first 61 minutes of the match, but Bremen awoke in a big way in the next eight minutes. Jose Gallegos broke the draw in the 62nd minute with a goal. Four minutes later Macoy Stone found the back of the net, and Roberto Nava kept the avalanche going in the 69th minute.
Raul Jimenez had a pair of assists while Gallegos and Nava each had an assist.
Tippecanoe Valley broke the run in the 75th minute when Ivan Santiago scored his third goal of the season.
Bremen keeper Saul Garcia made four saves for the win, Valley keeper Fabian Mar making seven stops.
Bremen (4-13-1) moves on to face host Argos, which pounded Oregon-Davis 9-0 in the night’s first game. Tippecanoe Valley closes its first season of soccer at 4-10-1.
Bremen and Argos play Wednesday in the first game of the sectional semi-finals, followed by Culver against Lakeland Christian Academy.
