Warsaw’s Desenberg Commits To North Central
WARSAW – Page Desenberg is a player that any basketball coach would love to have on their roster.
It will be North Central College that has that luxury come next season.
WCHS senior Desenberg announced on her Twitter account earlier tonight that she has made a verbal commitment to play at North Central next year.
Desenberg, a hard-working, tough and team-oriented cager, will join the NCAA Division III program in Naperville, Illinois in 2017.
Desenberg becomes the second player from coach Michelle Harter’s strong senior class to commit. Standout Dayton Groninger chose Indiana Wesleyan University earlier this week.
Desenberg was a strong contributor in every phase of the game for the Tigers her junior season. The undersized 5-8 forward averaged five points and just over five rebounds per game during the 2015-16 campaign. She helped Warsaw recover from an 0-9 start against a brutal schedule to finish at 11-14 overall and earn sectional runner-up honors in the Class 4-A Goshen Sectional. Warsaw lost to eventual state champion Penn in the sectional title game.
Desenberg earned honorable mention All-NLC honors as the Tigers went 6-1 in league play to finish in second place behind champion Northridge.
North Central College went 14-12 overall and 8-6 in league play last season. The Cardinals compete in the College Conference of Illinois and Wisconsin, also known as the CCIW. Michelle Roof enters her seventh season as the head coach of the Cardinals in 2016. She is 75-80 in her first six seasons at the helm.
Desenberg is a three-sport athlete at WCHS, also playing golf in the fall for coach Tad Nieter’s program and competing in track and field in the spring for coach Scott Erba’s program. She helped the Tiger golf team advance to the regional this season.
