Whitko Sports Wrap: Sept. 27
Cross Country
Logan Busz paced the Whitko boys cross country team Tuesday night in the Whitko Invite.
Busz took second overall with a time of 17:35. Zack Freel finished third (18:48) and Ezra Miller was fourth (18:58). Petyon Frye of Northfield won the event with a 17:05.
The girls team was led by Sarah Walters, who also took second. Walters ran a 21:05. Hanna Yohe placed third with a 21:22. Amanda Leppek (22:56), Elizabeth Foutz (24:25), Manon Sonneville (25:49) and Angel Moyer (26:05) rounded out the times for the girls team.
Whitko runs this Saturday at Tippecanoe Valley in the Three Rivers Conference meet.
Boys Tennis
Senior Cory Hersha and Bailey Platt teamed up on senior night to play No.1 doubles and won 6-1, 6-0 as part of a 5-0 sweep for Whitko against Prairie Heights.
No other scores were reported.
The Wildcats play Thursday night against Warsaw in the semifinals of the Warsaw Sectional.
Volleyball
The volleyball squad won the first game against Maconaquah Tuesday night but dropped the next three to fall 3-1.
Leading the Wildcats statistically were Haley Yohe (37 assists), Haley Howard (two aces), Kristina Slater (18 digs) and Kaity Reed (25 kills, three blocks)
Whitko (16-9) plays at Canterbury on Thursday.
