Carmel Leads XC Polls; Warsaw Ladies No. 11
Carmel may have the best high school girls cross country team in the nation. Certainly, the Greyhounds’ performance at last weekend’s Culver Academies Invitational would make that case.
Carmel’s girls swept five of the top six finish spots and scored a near-perfect 17 points in winning the Elite Division at Indiana’s largest cross country meet.
The Warsaw girls team, which finished in eighth place in the Elite Divison at Culver on Saturday, is No. 11 in this week’s poll. Coach Matt Campbell’s team will compete in the Northern Lakes Conference Meet Saturday at Ox Bow Park. The Tigers went undefeated to win the NLC regular-season title.
Carmel’s boys continue to be ranked No. 1, as well, in this week’s state poll, released by the Indiana Association of Track and Cross Country Coaches (IATCCC).
No. 2-ranked Carroll (Fort Wayne) may have the depth to challenge Carmel’s boys at the state finals in October.
Another school located near Fort Wayne, Homestead, is ranked No. 2 among girls.
