Violet L. Yoars
Violet L. Yoars, Warsaw, passed away at 2:45 a.m. Monday, Sept. 26, 2016, at Miller’s Merry Manor, Warsaw, at the age of 97.
She was born on Oct. 19, 1918, in Huntington County, to Charles Cline and Mary Ellen (Dean) Cline. On May 3, 1936, she was married to C. Kenneth Rice who passed away on April 1, 1982. Violet then re-married on May 12, 1984, to Carl Yoars and he passed away on June 2, 2002.
She was a graduate of Union Center High School in Huntington County. In the early 1950’s she and her first husband C. Kenneth Rice owned and operated the Quick Clean Laundry in Warsaw. Violet also worked for several years doing clerical work at Dr. Baum’s office in Warsaw. She was a member of First Christian Church of Warsaw, when she was able she was very active in the Warsaw Eastern Star, loved to play euchre and was a longtime member of Winona Literary Club, Winona Lake.
She will be lovingly remembered by her daughter: Mary Ellen (Larry) Long, Warsaw; stepdaughter: Rosalie (Tim) Tucker, Amboy; six grandsons: Scott (Jamie) Long, Warsaw; Kim (Heather) Long, Vernon Hills, Ill.; Ryan (Aleah) Long, Tipton; Mark (Lori) Courson, Benicia, Calif.; Brad Courson, Compton, Ark.; Jon Courson, Tampa, Fla.; and nine great-grandchildren. Also surviving is her brother: Guilford (Judy) Cline, Huntington. She was preceded in death by her parents; two husbands; daughter: Carolyn Courson on March 15, 1984; one grandson: David Courson; and two sisters: Wilda Scott; and Ina Graham
Visitation will be held from 10:30 a.m. to noon Thursday, Sept. 29, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw.
Her funeral service will follow immediately at noon Thursday, Sept. 29, and officiated by Pastor Gary Boschain. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
