Fisher Found Not Guilty of Sexual Misconduct
WARSAW — The courtroom was silent as Judge David Cates finally read the verdict around 9:30 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 21. Dominic Fisher was found not guilty on both counts of sexual misconduct.
Close family members of the teenage girl left the courtroom in a hurry before Judge Cates had finished with his statements. Judge Cates thanked the jurors for their service.
“What you have done is truly a patriotic duty,” he said. “You have served, and served well. I’m grateful for that cooperation.”
Judge Cates also thanked both attorneys, saying they made “Excellent presentations.”
After the jury was dismissed and left the courtroom, Fisher was immediately surrounded by family and friends. He was greeted with many hugs and tears. “Relieved” is how Fisher described his emotions at that moment.
The case stemmed from statements of sexual misconduct made in May 2015. A teenage girl accused Fisher of having sexual intercourse with her on two occasions when she was over at his house to babysit.
Fisher remained his innocence during the entirety of his testimony and left the courtroom with his family as a free man.
