Jerry Lee Mangus
Jerry Lee Mangus, 63, passed away Friday, Sept. 16, 2016 at Parkview Regional Medical Center in Fort Wayne.
He was born to the late Roy and Elaine (Claxton) Mangus on Nov. 24, 1952 in Kendallville. On May 31, 1974 he married Cheryl Ann Patrick in Ligonier.
Jerry was a very hard working individual. He worked for 34 years for Thermogas Company and spent the last five years at the Carlex Glass company formerly Guardian. Jerry was a part of the Cromwell/Kimmell Lions Club as well as an active member of the Stones Hill Community Church. He enjoyed riding his motorcycle, collecting matchbox cars, the New York Yankees and Indiana Pacers and Indianapolis Colts sports teams. He was very good at Donald Duck impressions. His favorite thing to do was spending time with his family and creating memories with his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Cheryl Mangus; his two children: Jeremy (Lisa) Mangus, Fort Hood, Texas; and Jenny (Michael) Weldy, Pensacola, Fla.; grandchildren: Trent Mangus, Los Angeles, Calif.; Garrett, and Shelbikay Mangus, both of Fort Hood, Texas; and Cameron Weldy, Stevens Point, Wis.; Brenden, and Nicholas Weldy, both of Pensacola, Fla. Sisters: Vicki (John) Marsh, Kimmell; Marilyn (Bruce) VanTilburg, Fort Wayne; and Susan (Daniel) Hague, Albion. Along with many nieces and nephews.
Jerry is preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Elaine Mangus.
Family and friends will be received from 2-8 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, at Stones Hill Community Church – 151 West Stones Hill Road Ligonier, IN 46767. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Sept. 21, at the church. Pastor Joey Nelson will officiate.
A private committal service will take place with the family at the Legacy Cremation and Remembrance Center.
