BATH, Mich. – The Grace College women’s golf team won the Spring Arbor Invitational in impressive fashion on Monday.
The Lady Lancers beat out five other Crossroads League teams with a 657, winning the event by 18 strokes at the Eagle Eye Golf Club.
Grace had three players finish in the top five on the individual leaderboard. Sydney Abbott took medalist honors with an 82-80, and Lauren Keiser was two strokes behind with an 81-83. Anna Marshall finished fifth in the tournament with a 166 (80-86).
Grace’s team was rounded out by Stevie Luebbert, who had a consistent 85-83, and Libby Tully’s 90-83.
The Lady Lancers’ 657 beat out second-place Indiana Wesleyan’s 675. The league teams present included Taylor, Huntington, Mt. Vernon Nazarene and Spring Arbor.
“This was an incredibly difficult course as you can see from the other team scores. Before the tournament we talked about becoming stronger emotionally, and I feel like we took some big steps forward in that regard,” said Grace coach Denny Duncan. “We had some big numbers on holes, but we always came back and played really well. Overall we played about as well as I could possibly ask of them today.”
Grace’s next tournament is the Taylor Invitational on Oct. 7-8.
