Grace Volleyball: Lancers Sweep Spring Arbor
SPRING ARBOR, Mich. – The Grace College volleyball team earned an emphatic road win on Friday night, sweeping Spring Arbor in Crossroads League play.
The Lady Lancers (7-8, 2-4 CL) bettered the Cougars in almost every facet of the game, winning 25-22, 25-15, 25-22.
The Cougars (2-8, 0-6 CL) were muted offensively, struggling to a .024 team hitting percentage. Spring Arbor never hit above .070 as a team in any of the three sets on Friday.
Grace used balanced production to beat Spring Arbor. Five players hit at least five kills, and four in the back row recorded double-digit digs.
Taylor Baird orchestrated Grace’s offense with a masterful performance. The senior setter stuffed the stat sheet with 27 assists, 10 digs, 5 kills and 4 block assists.
Sierra Smith led Grace’s attack with 10 kills, and Kelsee Zuidema’s busy night included 7 kills, 3 aces and 3 digs.
Tori Bontrager contributed on several fronts with 5 kills, 5 block assists and 2 aces, and Caylie Teel had a match-best 18 digs. Alexa Hill (11 digs), Sara Miller (10) and Baird (10) also recorded double figures in digs.
The Lady Lancers end the week at St. Francis on Saturday with the first serve slated for 4 p.m.
