Valley Sports Wrap: Sept. 15
Volleyball
The Tippecanoe Valley volleyball team saw its rally fall just short.
The host Vikings dropped a 3-2 final to visiting Manchester in Three Rivers Conference play.
Manchester captured the league match 25-15, 25-14, 8-25, 22-25, 15-11.
Makenzie Woodcox led the way for the host Vikings with 15 kills.
Sophie Bussard had 13 digs and Emily Peterson 35 assists for Valley. Shayleigh Shriver had three aces.
Valley won the junior varsity match 25-18, 25-14.
The Vikings, now 12-7 overall and 1-4 in the TRC, plays at Northfield next Thursday.
The Tippecanoe Valley girls golf team closed out regular-season play with a loss to Rochester.
The Zebras shot 202, while the Vikings came in at 212 in the match played at the Round Barn Golf Course in Rochester.
Kinley Lingenfelter of Rochester earned medalist honors with a 37.
Makayla Sandbakken led the Vikings on the day with a 49.
Victoria Biddle had a 50 and Bethany Johnson a 56 for Valley. Blake McBrier shot a 57, while Jade VanMeter had a 59 and Jordan Krotke a 63. Brianna McBrier had a 71 and Kelsey Shafer a 79.
Valley finishes its season with a record of 7-15.
Both Valley and Rochester will compete in the Warsaw Sectional on Saturday. Action starts at 11 a.m. at the Stonehenge Golf Club.
Soccer
The Tippecanoe Valley soccer team got a 2-1 win over Peru.
The host Vikings got a pair of second-half goals to earn their first Three Rivers Conference win.
Senior Tom Solano delivered both goals for Valley in the win, including the game winner in the 50th minute of the league contest.
Peru took a 1-0 lead with a goal in just the fifth minute of the match.
Junior Alyssa Brito and sophomore Harrison Vining each had an assist for Valley. Viking goalie Fabian Miller had 12 saves in the victory.
Valley, which lost a 6-0 final to TRC foe Rochester on Wednesday night, improves to 3-7-0 overall and goes to 1-4 in league play.
The Vikings play another TRC match on Monday evening at Whitko.
