James F. Runyan-UPDATED
James F. Runyan, 80, Albion, passed away at 4:15 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016, at Lutheran Hospital of Indiana, Fort Wayne. Born on Dec. 2, 1935, in Knox, he was the son of Harley Lee and Rose Lee (King) Runyan Sr.
He had been an Allen County resident since high school then moved to Noble County in 2004. He graduated from Knox High School, Knox, with the Class of 1953. He then attended Valparaiso University. On Jan. 19, 1959, he married Mary J. Albert in Fort Wayne. He retired from North American Van Lines, Fort Wayne, with 35 years of service. He was a member of The Journey Free Methodist Church. Jim was an avid fisherman and hunter.
Survivors include his wife of 57 years: Mary J. Runyan; son: Jay H. (Rene) Runyan, Ossian; daughters: Vicki L. (Joe Martin) Fawley, Winamac; Judy L. Runyan, Columbia City; Thomas R. (Joyce) Runyan, Atlanta, Ga.; brothers and sisters: Lois Fawley, Fort Wayne; Barbara Yochem, California; Jack (Donna) Runyan, New Haven; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; one son: Mark A. Runyan; one brother: Harley Lee Runyan Jr.; and sister-in-law: Sharon Runyan.
Visitation is from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Monday, Sept. 19, at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, Columbia City. Funeral service will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 20, at the funeral home with Pastor Todd Eckhardt officiating. Burial will follow at Thorn Cemetery, Ormas, Noble County.
Memorials may be given in memory of Mr. Runyan’s to his family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
