Man Arrested For Battery Of A Pregnant Woman And Possession Of Meth
WARSAW — Marco Iran Guzman, 28, 123 E. Rochester St., Akron was booked in the Kosciusko County Jail on Sept. 14, for possession of meth and battery with bodily injury with bonds of $5,250 surety and cash and $10,250 surety and cash.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Wednesday, June 10, 2015, an officer was dispatched to a battery. When the officer arrive he spoke to the victim who was holding a wash cloth to the right side of her head. She was bleeding from a contusion on the right side of her forehead and had an abrasion and bruise on her right arm.
The victim stated that she and her boyfriend, Marco Guzman, were arguing when he knocked her to the floor by hitting her on the forehead with his fist. As a result of her fall, her arm hit a fan which caused an abrasion and a cut.
The victim stated she was pregnant and Guzman was the father. She also confirmed that Guzman knew she was pregnant.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Thursday, June 4, 2015, officials responded to a suspicious fire at Melody Acres Trailer Park. When the officers arrived, they were directed by a witness to an unburnt brush pile with a black plastic bag laying on it. The witness stated they had seen someone carry the bag out of the mobile home and place it there. Inside the bag were numerous pieces of aluminum foil with burnt residue. Also, found in the plastic bag were a wooden box containing a small plastic bag with a white substance, which tested positive for methamphetamine, plastic tubes, an Indiana driver’s license belonging to Guzman and a debit card.
Officers then went to a grassy area near the mobile home where a pink camo backpack was on the ground. The backpack had burn marks on it and was partially melted. Inside the backpack an officer found a plastic bag containing multiple products to create methamphetamine and a plastic bag containing a white powder residue which tested positive for methamphetamine.
Also located next to the backpack was one liter pop bottle with salt sludge.
An officer spoke to an individual who stated that after the fire started, she observed a woman leaving the mobile home carrying a backpack. The witness stated she said she knew the fire department and police would soon arrive so she went to her bedroom and picked up some smoking devices and a Batman box and placed them in a kitchen trash bag. She then carried the trash back outside and placed it on an unburnt trash pile near her mobile home so the police would not find it.
The witness gave officers permission to search her resident. She also stated the pieces of aluminum foil the officers found belonged to her boyfriend Guzman who used them to smoke methamphetamine.
An officer spoke with another witness who stated she observed the a woman going out of the mobile home carrying a pink backpack and plastic both. She watched the woman place the backpack and plastic bottle in a grassy area behind the mobile home.
