Crossroads League Lists Preseason Poll, Awards
INDIANAPOLIS – The Crossroads League announced its 2016-2017 Preseason Poll and Preseason All-League award winners during its annual Media Day at Huntington University on Monday.
The poll and preseason honors were voted on by the head coaches from the Crossroads League, with defending Crossroads League Champion, Saint Francis, edging NAIA National Champion Indiana Wesleyan for the top position. Bethel, Mount Vernon Nazarene and Marian rounded out the top-five with Goshen, Grace, Taylor, Huntington and Spring Arbor filling out the poll.
IWU’s Lane Mahurin was selected as the Crossroads League Preseason Player of the Year, with teammate Bob Peters joining him as a First-Team Preseason All-Crossroads League selection. Bryce Lienhoop (USF), Wesley Stowers (MU) and Clay Yeo (BC) also claimed first-team honors. The unit consists of three NAIA All-Americans, with Mahurin and Yeo earning First-Team All-American honors last season and Lienhoop taking Third-Team All-American honors.
