Middlebury’s Grewe Wins Silver In High Jump [VIDEO]
RIO DE JANEIRO – Middlebury resident and Northridge High School student Sam Grewe won a silver medal in high jump at the Rio Paralympics.
Grewe cleared 1.86 meters, one of just three competitors to meet the height, in Friday’s competition. India’s Mariyappan Thangavelu would win gold, clearing 1.89. Grewe could not match the height, but reached 1.86 before Bhati Varun Singh of India hit the mark, earning a silver to Vanun Singh’s bronze.
Grewe is one of two athletes from Elkhart County to compete for the US Paralympic Team, joined by swimmer Dalton Herendeen, a Concord High School graduate.
