Valley Football: Norse Show No Remorse
WABASH – Northfield didn’t show any sympathy for Tippecanoe Valley Friday night. A tough week for the Vikings was just another week of business for the talented Northfield squad, winning 40-0 in the Three Rivers Conference matchup.
Valley, switching head coaches earlier in the week, had co-coaches Aaron Norris and Jeff Shriver take over for the departed Darin Holsopple. But the same bugaboos that hurt Valley in its first three games showed up again against the Norse.
Northfield ran for 349 yards on 32 carries, Kyle Reed accounting for 185 of them. The victors added 62 yards passing for 411 total yards, the fourth week in a row Valley has allowed over 400 yards.
Tippecanoe Valley managed just 62 yards of offense on the night, which has haunted the Vikings in its first month in the inability to maintain drives. Valley also coughed up the ball five times in the game.
In its four losses this season, Valley has allowed 52 points per game.
“We came out the first drive, first couple of plays and we were fired up and we played well,” said Shriver during his interview with WRSW radio. “When things didn’t go our way, we got our heads down a little bit. We reverted back to pouting a little and not coming off the ball. We lost some enthusiasm. To be honest, by halftime, we were gassed.”
Tippecanoe Valley (0-4, 0-2 TRC) will host Whitko (4-0, 2-0 TRC) while Northfield (3-1, 2-0 TRC) will entertain Manchester (0-4, 0-2 TRC).
