Paul J. Bailey
Paul J. Bailey, 82, passed away at 10:45 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, 2016, under the care of The Center of Hospice and Palliative Care.
Paul was born on Nov. 22, 1933, in Bremen, to Paul Albert and Edna Mae (Cox) Bailey. Paul retired from NIPSCO after nearly 39 years of service as a construction supervisor. On Dec. 11, 1952, Paul married the former Barbara J. Lowry in a ceremony at the First United Methodist Church, Lydick. His greatest joy was the 40 acres and house he built with his own two hands. Paul will be greatly missed by all who loved him.
Paul is survived by his loving wife of nearly 64 years: Barbara Bailey, Plymouth; his two daughters: Judy Bailey; and Kathy Snyder, both of Plymouth; his three sons: Billy Bailey, Plymouth; Martin Bailey, Greenfield; and Richard (Luanne) Bailey, Fishers; seven grandchildren; and seven great-grandchildren; two sisters: Betty Jones; and Nancy Bailey, Lake of the Woods; many nieces and nephews; sister-in-law: Sandi Gard, Demotte. Paul is preceded in death by his parents.
The Van Gilder Funeral Home is honored to be caring for the Bailey family. A funeral service in honor of Paul will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, in the Van Gilder Funeral Home, Plymouth, with Pastor Bob Land of the Trinity United Methodist Church officiating. A time of visiting with the Bailey family will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, in the Van Gilder Funeral Home.
The Bailey family request memorial contributions in Paul’s name be made to Trinity United Methodist Church, Plymouth, or Marshall-Starke Development Center Client Recreation Fund.
