Megan Smith Awarded Two Alpha Lambda Delta Scholarships
INDIANAPOLIS — Dr. Susan Melson Huffman, national president of Alpha Lambda Delta, announced the recipients of the 2016-17 James H. Stemler Study Abroad Scholarships. Megan L. Smith, originally from Silver Lake, received a scholarship in the amount of $2,000. Smith studies ceramics, french at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis.
The James G. Stemler Study Abroad Scholarships are awarded to Alpha Lambda Delta members who are pursuing a credit-bearing study abroad program to enhance their academic studies. Smith will be traveling to Germany, the Czech Republic, Austria and France this upcoming year.
Smith was also one of three Indianapolis University-Purdue University Indianapolis recipients of the Jo Anne J. Trow National Scholarship and was awarded $1,000.
Each year, Alpha Lambda Delta awards 36 Trow scholarships to outstanding students from across the country. Selection is based on maintaining a 3.5 GPA, academic records, participation in Alpha Lambda Delta activities, campus and community service activities and the applicant’s statement. This year 110 applicants qualified for the scholarship
