Sign-up for the 12th Annual Middlebury Walks for a Cure
GOSHEN — For 11 years, Middlebury and surrounding community members have gathered together to raise money for cancer care services during Middlebury Walks for a Cure. On October 2, 2016, the 12th annual Middlebury Walks for a Cure 5K Walk/Run will start and finish at the Das Dutchman Essenhaus Inn and Conference Center in Middlebury, Indiana.
Cancer survivors will be honored at the event by leading the walk. Pre-race activities include a silent auction, various vendors and gift retailers. Registration will start at 1 p.m. with opening ceremonies at 2 p.m. The 5K Walk/Run route goes through downtown Middlebury and is moderately challenging. Timing chips will be available. Restrooms will be available at the Middlebury Library and free water will be available along the route. The one-mile Fun Walk is a scenic route over even, level ground near Das Dutchman Essenhaus Inn.
Middlebury Walks for a Cure began in 2005 and was organized by Nean Smith, a lifelong Middlebury resident and breast cancer survivor. The Walk/Run has grown from 119 walkers to over 500 walkers and runners. The walk is a nonprofit event to raise funds for cancer programs in Northern Indiana. Proceeds from the 2016 Walk/Run will benefit IU Health Goshen Center for Cancer Care and United Cancer Services of Elkhart County.
