North Webster Community Public Library News And Events
NORTH WEBSTER —The North Webster Community Public Library is currently taking reservations for an upcoming Coffee and Canvas Workshop that will be held from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 24. The workshop will be taught by Karla Hayden, artist and owner of The Happy Paint Brush. Hayden will provide easy step-by-step instructions on painting a fall barn scene. The cost of the workshop is $18 and includes an 11×14 canvas, painting supplies, and refreshments. Advance registration and pre-payment is needed by Sept. 22 to participate. Adults can sign up and pay at the library’s circulation desk to reserve a spot.
Registrations are also being taken for an upcoming press release writing class scheduled for 1 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 22. Local journalist Martha Stoelting will instruct on how to write professional press releases using Associated Press guidelines. She will also provide tips on how to get better news coverage for an event or organization. This class is designed to help persons who are in charge of publicity and marketing for service clubs, charities, non-profits, small businesses and other organizations. The class is free, but pre-registration is needed to attend. Sign up at the circulation desk or call (574) 834-7122 to attend.
Currently underway is registration for the fall session of preschool story time starting Wednesday, Sept. 21 and runs every Wednesday morning through Nov. 9. Parents have a choice of two time periods at 10:30 a.m or 11:30 a.m. for their young children to enjoy stories, activities, and crafts. Registrations are being taken at the library’s youth services desk or by phone at (574) 834-7122 ext. 202. Although registration is requested, visitors are always welcome.
The library’s local history and genealogy center has added Rachael Eyermann to this year’s entertainment for the North Webster Cemetery Walk, 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11. Eyermann will play the bagpipes outside the library as patrons commence their guided walking tours of the nearby North Webster Cemetery. Leaving every 15 minutes, the tours begin and end at the library where patrons can enjoy the distinctive sounds of Eyermann’s bagpipe music.
