Whitehurst Arrested For Battery To Disabled Man While Intoxicated
BOURBON — Casey William Whitehurst, 27, 13970 Elm Road, Bourbon, was arrested for a level 6 felony of battery with moderate bodily injury.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, on Aug. 28 an officer with the Kosciusko County Sheriff’s Department responded to a battery complaint.
The victim advised that Whitehurst had arrived at his house highly intoxicated. Whitehurst asked for some pain pills but the victim refused to give Whitehurst any. Whitehurst became angry and shoved the victim, causing him to fall out of his wheelchair.
Whitehurst then stood on the victim’s leg and placed his forearm on the victim’s throat. After that, Whitehurst stood up and hit the victim several times with the wheelchair and shoved the wheelchair down a ramp. Whitehurst returned to a black Ford Ranger and left the property.
The officer observed red marks and injuries to both sides of the victim’s leg. The victim has a bone disorder and was transported to the hospital to have his legs x-rayed.
A short time later, officers with the Warsaw Police Department conducted a traffic stop on the same black Ford Ranger and charged Whitehurst with an OWI.
Whitehurst was booked into the Kosciusko County Jail on Aug. 28 with a $5,000 surety and $250 cash bond.
