Mildred Rose Garlish
Mildred Rose (Ryer) Garlish, 97, LaFontaine, formerly of Farmington, Ill. and Mesa, Ariz., passed away Sunday, Aug. 28, 2016 in LaFontaine.
Born March 28, 1919 in rural Farmington, Ill. to Walter and Rosella (Ingold) Ryer. She married Elman Henry Garlish on June 19, 1937; he died Sept. 13, 1985 in Mesa, Arizona. Also preceding her in death were her parents, three sons: Garry Garlish, Lafayette; Stephen Garlish, Sun Lakes, Ariz.; and Walter Garlish, who died at birth; and two sisters: Betty Simkins and Mae Whitman.
Surviving are one son: Henry (Janice) Garlish, Farmington, Ill.; two daughter in laws: Bonnie Garlish and Nancy Garlish; nine grandchildren: Lynn (Brian) Bauer, Lori (Mike) Brane, Katherine (Eric) Donath, Keith (Christi) Garlish, David (Tamara) Garlish, Darren (Rachel) Garlish, Jamey (Janeece) Garlish, Kevin (Julie) Sutton and Kelli (Norman) Jones; 25 great grandchildren and eight great great grandchildren.
Mildred was a 1937 graduate of Farmington High School. She was a homemaker, an avid bridge player, Cubs fan and loved to travel and garden. She loved spending time with her family and friends as well.
Cremation has been accorded. A family service will be held at a later date. Internment of remains will be at Chapin-Pleasant Hill Cemetery is rural Farmington, Ill. Memorials may be made to the Chapin-Pleasant Hill Cemetery Association.
