NORTH WEBSTER — The North Webster Community Public Library announces that local musician Dan Kuhn will be providing free musical entertainment during the tenth annual North Webster Cemetery Walk 1-3 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 11. Kuhn plays the guitar, banjo and harmonica and will entertain patrons inside the library while they wait for the cemetery walk tour to begin. Raised in North Webster, Kuhn is a retired Warsaw High School teacher. The library invites the public to attend this free living history event and enjoy Kuhn’s musical talents.
After a very successful summer of reading fun, the youth services department is ready to launch into September with the return of popular programs.
Lapsit story time begins 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 6, for the library’s youngest patrons. Infants and toddlers, ages birth to 36 months, along with their parents, experience the joys of books, stories and songs every Tuesday morning throughout September. Each 20-minute session is followed by 10 minutes of meaningful play. Parents are also given resources to foster early literacy development. Registration is required to attend.
Registration begins Sept. 7 for the fall session of preschool story time. The fall session runs every Wednesday morning from Sept. 21 through Nov. 9 followed by the annual Thanksgiving Feast. Parents have a choice of two periods at 10:30 a.m. or 11:30 a.m. Geared toward three through five-year-olds, preschool story time gives young children the opportunity to socialize with other children while enjoying stories, activities, and crafts. After taking a month off, LEGO Club will be back in full swing 1 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10. Kids, ages five through 12, can have fun building with LEGOs. The kids can build anything they want with LEGOs provided by the library. Children under age nine should be accompanied by an adult.
Tuesday crafts and stories begins the following week on 4 p.m. Sept. 13. It’s a fun, constructive after school activity in which kids kindergarten through fifth grade can do a fun craft while listening to stories. Family movie time on Sept. 22 and make it/take it craft days on Sept. 23 and 30 are also planned. Watch for upcoming details.
