Wawasee Sports Wrap: Aug. 25
Girls Soccer
It was a big night for the girls soccer team as the Lady Warriors surpassed their 2015 win total with a 3-1 defeat of Bethany Christian.
Leigh-Ann Shrack got the scoring going early for Wawasee with a goal in the first half. Wawasee was tied 3-3 at the half with the Bruins. Alyssa Bolyard knocked a goal in off a corner kick from Meg Heinisch and the final goal was scored by Olivia Birch. Kayla White recorded three saves for the Lady Warriors.
Wawasee (4-1) will host Concord Wednesday.
Boys Soccer
The Wawasee boys soccer team suffered a 2-1 loss at the hands of West Noble on Thursday. Wawasee got its lone goal from Chris Pena. The freshman’s goal was assisted by Eric Yankoski.
Wawasee (1-1-3) hosts Culver Saturday morning.
Volleyball
Bethany Christian topped Wawasee on the court during a Thursday night contest. The Bruins took care of Wawasee in four games. Wawasee’s only win came in game two, a 25-23 escape.
Madie Wilson led Wawasee with 20 digs. Liz Hardy recorded 13 blocks.
Wawasee (1-4) travels to Manchester on Tuesday.
Wawasee’s JV team moved to 7-1 on the year with a 2-1 win. The JV squad was led by Hannah Gaerte who recorded six aces, 15 digs and four kills.
Freshman Football
The Wawasee freshman football team started its season with a bang. The Warriors made the long haul down to Huntington North and left with a 30-8 victory.
Ethan Hardy, Lashawn Morris, Jesse Landeros and Braxton Gray all were credited with touchdowns in the contest for Wawasee.
The Warriors are now 1-0 and host West Noble next Thursday.
