A. Wendel Satchwill
A. Wendel Satchwill, 93, rural Urbana, died at 9:56 p.m. Monday, Aug. 22, 2016, at Miller’s Merry Manor East, Wabash. He was born April 3, 1923, in Huntington County, to Alfred and Elma (Fidlier) Satchwill.
Wendel married Eva Marie Wilcox in Wabash County on Sept. 20, 1944. He was a life-long farmer and a self-employed mechanic. He was a member of St. Paul’s County Line Church, Andrews. He was a 50-year member of the Hanna Masonic Lodge, Wabash, and a past Master of the Lagro Masonic Lodge 143. He was also a member of the Wabash Eastern Star and a Past Worthy Patron of the Eastern Star in Lagro. Wendel was a private pilot and enjoyed flying and also enjoyed traveling.
He is survived by his wife: Eva Marie Satchwill, Urbana; two children: Keith (Kathleen) Satchwill, Wabash; Kay (Eric) Urschel, Leo; five grandchildren: Jarid Gross, Urbana; Karalea Gross, Wintergarden, Fla.; Susan (John Sorg) Satchwill, Huntington; Steven Satchwill, Wabash; and Sara (Matt) Cole, Urbana; three great-grandchildren: Alisyn Gross, Silver Lake; Owen Cole; and Jada Cole, both of Urbana. He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother: Edmond Satchwill; and two sister: Helen Heffelfinger; and Bonnie Satchwill.
Funeral services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, 2016, at Grandstaff-Hentgen Funeral Service, Wabash. Burial will be in Memorial Lawns Cemetery, Wabash. Friends may call 9:30-10:30 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 27, at the funeral home. There will be a Masonic service at 10:30 a.m. Saturday also at the funeral home.
