Triton Sports Wrap: Aug. 23
Volleyball
Triton held off a pesky Bremen side to win the rivalry matchup Tuesday, 3-1, at the Trojan Trench. After winning 25-20 in the first game, Triton lost 21-25 in game two only to come back and post 25-10, 25-23 games to seal up the win.
Stats were overflowing for the Trojans. Courtney Jennings continued to play well, nailing 12 kills and five solo blocks while Charlotte Morris had 11 kills and six solo blocks. Quinn Downing and Tyana Spencer combined for 37 digs, Jennings and Emma Ross combined for eight aces, Nicole Sechrist had 12 kills and Hannah Wanemacher provided 36 assists.
Triton (3-1) jumps into Hoosier North Athletic Conference play Thursday in hosting Pioneer.
Boys Tennis
Solid play from its doubles teams gave Triton a 4-1 win over North Judson Tuesday afternoon in Bourbon.
The team of Keygan Moiser and Chase Butler rolled 6-0, 6-4 at one doubles and Grant Eib and Tyler Heckaman endured a 6-4, 7-5 whopper against Blake Shell and Karson Bailey at two doubles.
Mace Eads shut out Bohen Stayrook at one singles, and Cater Kuntz closed out Sam Bark love and two at three singles. Blue Jay two singles Brendon Medbourn beat Triton’s Aaron Stichter 6-4, 6-1.
Triton won the JV matchups 2-1.
Triton (2-3, 1-1 HNAC) plays at home again Wednesday in conference against Knox.
Girls Golf
Manchester used quality scores from Sam Kissell and Lydia Little to best Triton, 187-293, Tuesday at Sycamore Golf Club.
Kissell medaled the match with a 43 with Little two shots back at 45. Karly Eichenauer posted a 48, sister Kelsey Eichenauer had a 51 and Leiah Brandenburg shot a 53 for the Squires.
Triton had Sam Edington lead her team with a 70, followed by Delanie Groves at 71, Alysha May at 74 and Megan McFarland at 78. Kate Gardner did not finish from the No. 1 position.
Triton will golf again Wednesday at Rozella Ford against Bremen and Tippecanoe Valley.
