Thomas G. Hickle
Thomas G. Hickle, 63, Arab, Ala., formerly of Kewanna, passed away peacefully at 4:35 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 21, 2016, surrounded by his family.
Born March 9, 1953, in Rochester, he was the son of Harold T. and Betty (Knicker) Hickle.
He was a 1972 Kewanna High School graduate where he played basketball for the Indian’s and earned the nickname “Grasshopper”. Tom was also a graduate from the Indiana Police Academy in 1992.
On Oct. 10, 1998, he married Ramona Jones, she survives.
Tom did many things throughout his life. He formerly worked at Sidel’s International Harvester Dealership in Kewanna, McGills in Culver, he was a salesman for Callahan Seed Company and he also farmed for many years. Tom was a former Fulton County Sheriff’s Deputy and he served as Kewanna Town Marshal for 12 years from 1991 to 2003. Tom also formerly owned and operated Hickle Body Shop in Kewanna for over 35 years. He and Ramona also formerly owned and operated Tom and Monies Karaoke Entertainment and the Kibitzer Tavern from 2004-2008. Tom enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening and mushroom hunting. His passion was restoring antique and classic cars.
Survivors include his wife: Ramona Hickle, Arab, Ala.; children: Jarrod (Carrie) Hickle, Kewanna; Carrie (Ryan) Fairchild, Medaryville; Wesley (Cyndi) Hickle, Lake Odessa, Mich.; mother: Betty Hickle, Kewanna; stepson: Nick (Cindy) Baldner, Hobart; and stepdaughter: Jamie (Chris Bailey) Phelps, Huntsville, Ala.; grandchildren: Gavin; Grant; and Garrison Hickle; Breanna Fairchild; Brooklyn Hickle; Hayes; Aubrey; Sadie; Julie; and Beau Brearley; Dane Baldner; Austin; and Dale Phelps; and Christian; and Ryan Burmeister; sisters: Susan (Steve Handschu) Rouch, Grass Creek; and Kathleen (David) Patty, Logansport; brother: James “Jim” (Barb) Hickle, Winamac; and uncle: Robert “Butch” (Kathy) Knicker, Kewanna. He was also survived by numerous nieces; nephews; and cousins. He is also survived by lifetime friends: John; and Sherry Anderson, Kewanna. He was preceded in death by his father: Harold T. Hickle; uncle: Howard Hickle; and wife: Carol; and cousin: Brad Hickle.
A Celebration of Tom’s Life will be at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, at Harrison-Metzger-Rans Funeral Home, Kewanna Chapel, with Pastor Steve Miller officiating.
Visitation will be held from 2-8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 24, at the funeral home and also one hour prior to the time of service on Thursday.
Burial will be at Kewanna Citizens IOOF Cemetery.
