Reva M. Grable
Reva M. Grable, 79, formerly of Columbia City, passed away at 2:25 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 20, 2016 at Hospice of Hope, Maysville, Ky.
Born May 4, 1937 in Guage, Ky., she was the daughter of Charles E. and Mattie Lou (Roberts) Banks.
Reva attended school in Ownesville, Ky. and spent her adult years living in Germany, Indiana and Colorado prior to making Big Lake north of Columbia City, her permanent residence. In February of 2015, she moved to Tollesboro, Ky. to live with her daughter Kim. Reva worked at Precision Plastics for 21 years, retiring in December of 1999 and then worked as a cook at the Columbia City Eagles for over five years. She was a member of Faith Baptist Church in Columbia City and attended Petersville Church of God in Kentucky. She was also a 21 year member of Eagles Aux. #1906 and a past president for 2 years. She was involved in charity work, particularly the Heart Fund.
Survivors include her children: Jammy (Kim) Birchum, Morganton, N.C.; Kim Jefferson, Tollesboro, Ky.; and Chris (Debbie) Birchum, Columbia City; sisters: Nell Faroute, Columbia City; Ruby Newton, Fort Wayne; and Rebecca Crump, Columbia City; 13 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents; first husband in 1969, Clarence Birchum; second husband in 2005, Robert Grable; daughter, Terry Birchum; son, Steve Birchum; brothers: Chester, Holton and Grover Banks; sisters: Mary Mullins, Martha Walters, Florence Richie, Josephine Johnson and Juanita Claxton.
Visitation is 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 25, 2016 at DeMoney-Grimes, a Life Story Funeral Home, 600 Countryside Drive, Columbia City. Funeral services will be 10 a.m. Friday at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Thorn Cemetery.
Memorial gifts may be given in Mrs. Grable’s memory to American Heart Association, American Cancer Society or to the donor’s choice.
