Whitko Football: Wildcats Dominant In Opener
CAMBRIDGE CITY — The Whitko football team made the long trip down to Cambridge City to take on the Golden Eagles on Lincoln High School and left with a big victory. The Wildcats stomped Lincoln 32-6 behind 377 rushing yards.
Garett Elder debuted at halfback for the Wildcats and did not disappoint. The senior rushed for 175 yards and scored four touchdowns. Elder averaged over 17 yards per carry, which wasn’t even the best average on the team. Robby Owsley had five carries and totaled 114 yards while scoring one touchdown. Hunter Reed got in on the fun as well as he pounded his way to 93 yards on the ground.
Collin Craig ran the offense under center for the Wildcats but made a big on defense as well as he led the team with 12 tackles. Brandon Fuga had Whitko’s lone sack on the evening.
Nick Cupp threw for 139 yards and one score for the home team. Chase Southerland hauled in the touchdown pass from Cupp.
Whitko (1-0) will host Columbia City next Friday while Lincoln (0-1) will host Wes-Del.
