Two Vehicles Collide Head-On Near Warsaw
WARSAW — Three people were injured last evening in a head-on collision near Warsaw.
At approximately 7:09 p.m. Friday, Aug. 19, officers with the Warsaw Police Department responded to an accident at the intersection of North CR 100E and East CR 300N, near Warsaw.
Megan C. Richard, 28, East Mowrey Road, Columbia City, was northbound on CR 100E, driving a silver 2002 Nissan. Richard told officers the vehicle in front of her slowed to turn left onto CR 300N and that, when she hit her brakes, her vehicle pulled to the left into the path of an oncoming white 2008 Saturn, driving by Sara Montoya, 44, East CR 200N, Warsaw.
Richard’s and Montoya’s vehicles collided head-on, causing heavy damage. Both vehicles had to be towed from the scene.
Montoya was transported to Kosciusko Community Hospital with bruising to her upper leg area. Richard also complained of pain to the upper leg area but declined transportation to the hospital. A passenger in Richard’s vehicle, Adam J. Connelly-Cross, 33, East Market Street, Columbia City, had minor bleeding to the head but also declined transportation to the hospital.
The driver of the vehicle in front of Richard’s vehicle told officers he had slowed to turn left and was yielding the right-of-way to Montoya’s oncoming vehicle when he heard tires screeching behind him and the vehicles collided in the southbound lane.
Damage from the accident is estimated up to $50,000.
