Bel Airs Draw Crowd To Central Park
WARSAW — Audiences gathered at Central Park Friday evening, Aug. 19, for a blast from the past as the Bel Airs brought favorites from the 50s and 60s.
The event was the second-to-last in this year’s free Central Park Concert Series, hosted by the Warsaw Parks Department. A returning favorite, the Bel Airs kept things lively, even throwing in a few jokes between songs.
According to Warsaw Parks Department Recreation Director Sheila Wieringa, last year’s concert with the Bel Airs was rained out, much to the disappointment of local fans. This year’s weather was just the opposite, however, with a mix of sunshine and warm — though not hot — temperatures.
“We have a great turnout,” Wieringa said. “We have a great crowd.”
The final concert of the summer in this series begins at 7 p.m. next Friday, Aug. 26, with the Whistle Pigs brass band.
“The season went as well as expected,” she said. “I’m happy we’ve not had any rainouts as of yet.”
