Wawasee Sports Wrap: Aug. 17
Girls Soccer
It was deja vu for the Wawasee girls soccer team Wednesday night. After earning a 7-2 season-debut win over Lakeland, the Warriors returned to action against West Noble for another 7-2 victory.
Leigh-Ann Shrack ran her season total of goals to five by knocking in two against the Chargers. Sarah Pritchard added two of her own while Meg Heinisch, Alyssa Bolyard and Kaitlyn Graber each had one goal apiece. Kayla White had nine saves in goal.
“We’ve had two great games in a row,” said Wawasee head coach Doug Heinisch. “Both games have shown strong play by our entire team.”
Heinisch also gave special mention of Lee Ann Estrada for her performance in both games this week.
Wawasee (2-0) hosts Westview Saturday morning.
The Wawasee JV team fell 3-0 to West Noble. The Chargers had seven shots on goal to Wawasee’s one. Libby Goralczyk was credited with four saves for the Warriors.
Girls Golf
The Wawasee girls golf team fell 186-208 to Manchester Wednesday night. Aubrey Schmeltz was match medalist with a 38, her low for the year. The rest of the team had a rough night, however.
Madison Beaman came in with a 58, Zoe White shot a 55, Jadison Rostochak signed for a 57 and Lesley Tayagua had a 60.
Wawasee now sits at 5-3 on the year.
