Quirk Charged With Battery Involving Child
WARSAW — Jonahlyn Phaeth Quirk, 24, 317 N. Lake St., Warsaw, is being charged with a Class A misdemeanor of battery.
Officers with the Warsaw Police Department were dispatched to a residence on Lake Street in reference to a domestic disturbance on July 22.
According to the affidavit of probable cause, Quirk’s boyfriend and his wife, who are separated but not divorced, wanted to take their children to Center Park for a concert. Quirk’s boyfriend wanted her to go, as well.
Quirk, upset that the boyfriend’s wife was at her residence, threw a plastic pipe at her from the balcony. The pipe missed the woman and, instead, hit one of the minor children on the head. Quirk then threw a guitar at the woman, which hit her in the leg.
Quirk ran down the stairs and attempted to bite the woman. Though it is not clear how, the two women ended up at the top of the stairs, hitting each other. As they fought, they ended up falling down the stairs.
The minor and the wife both had injuries that matched the wife’s statement.
Quirk stated her boyfriend restrained her while allowing his wife to repeatedly strike her in the head. She stated the pipe fell from the balcony during the scuffle. Quirk also said she was thrown down the stairs and hit by the wife several more times.
An officer noted Quirk’s statements were inconsistent. Quirk complained of head pain but refused medical treatment. Child Protective Services was notified of the event.
Quirk is being held on three separate charges, two with no bond and the third a $600 cash bond.
