Olmedo-Barrera Crushes Cubs
BOWLING GREEN, Ky. – David Olmedo-Barrera had three hits and scored two runs as the Bowling Green Hot Rods defeated the South Bend Cubs 8-5 on Wednesday.
Bowling Green started the scoring with a big second inning, when it put up four runs, including a two-run single by Zacrey Law.
Trailing 7-2, the Cubs cut into the deficit in the fifth inning when Matt Rose hit a three-run home run.
The Hot Rods tacked on another run in the seventh when Kevin Padlo scored on a sacrifice.
Bowling Green starter Genesis Cabrera (10-4) picked up the win despite allowing five runs and six hits over five innings. Opposing starter Oscar De La Cruz (1-1) took the loss in the Midwest League game after a rough outing in which he allowed six runs and eight hits over three innings. Yoel Espinal pitched four scoreless innings for his fourth save of the season.
Bowling Green and South Bend wrap up their series Thursday at 7:35 p.m.
