Triton Tennis: Glenn Takes Advantage
WALKERTON – Triton won a pair of singles courts, but couldn’t get over the hump in doubles matches in a 3-2 loss at John Glenn Tuesday night.
Triton’s Mace Eads beat Kevin Schmalzried three and two on the one singles court and teammate Aaron Stichter bounced Alex Ross on the two singles court two and three.
But Trace Jones picked up a 7-6 (4), 6-3 win over Carter Kuntz for the Falcons and the Glenn one doubles tandem of Louis Delinski and Gabe Weiss shut out Keygan Moiser and Grant Eib. At two doubles, Bryce Goble and Alex Kruk rallied to a 6-2, 5-7, 6-1 win against Tyler Heckaman and Jared Bules to clinch the win for the home side.
Added Triton coach Al Peckham, “(We) played well for the first match, all four of my beginners. I thought they held their own today.”
Triton and John Glenn split the JV matches 1-1.
The Trojans (0-1) open Hoosier North Athletic Conference action Wednesday at Knox.
