James “Jim” Brewer
James “Jim” A. Brewer, LaGrange, formerly of Warsaw, passed away at 7 p.m. Sunday, Aug. 14, at Parkview Regional Medical Center, Fort Wayne, at the age of 59. He was a self-employed carpenter and an ex-Marine. He will be remembered as a devoted husband and loving brother. He will be missed by many.
He was born on July 3, 1957 in Paintsville, Ky., to James Garth Brewer and Valeria (Arms) Brewer. On March 12, 1994, he was married to Nancy (Dickens) Grider Brewer, who survives in LaGrange.
He leaves behind two sons: James Brewer Jr., Warsaw; and Gerald Grider, Indianapolis; four daughters: Tracey (Darrin) Johnson, Warsaw; Melisa (Harrison) Gibson, Warsaw; Sonya (Carlos) Rodriguez, Kendallville; and Judy (Fernando) Grider, Kendallville.
Also surviving are 12 grandchildren: Tabitha Kellogg; Anna Rodriguez; Mathew Rodriquez; Brooke Grider; Austin Grider; Kamden Grider; Victoria Fields; Alexander Nava; Amanda Ditton; Brandon Ditton; Shyanne Ballard; and Brandon Ballard; five great-grandchildren: Brayden Salisbury; Elena Ballard; Alyanah Rodriguez,; Airabella Rodriguez; and Kaiden Rodriguez; as well as his brother: Michael McCarty, Paintsville, Ky.; and six sisters: Janetta Fairchild, Winona Lake; Deborah Fitzpatrick, Painstsville, Ky.; Dinah (Kenneth) Goble, Tippecanoe; Karen (Edward) Ping, Berea, Ky.; Patricia (Douglas) Marsillett, Warsaw; and Teresa Hall, Warsaw. He was preceded in death by his parents.
His funeral service will be conducted at 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, at Redpath-Fruth Funeral Home, Warsaw, and officiated by Kelly Newsome. There will be two hours of visitation prior to the service from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18. Burial will follow with a graveside service at Oakwood Cemetery, Warsaw.
