Jonita M. Frank
Jonita M. “Jo” Frank, 64, Syracuse, passed away at 10:18 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016 at her home.
She was born April 6, 1952 in Leon, Iowa to Robert G. & Elsie L. (McMurtrey) Upfield.
She graduated in 1970 from Mormon Trail High School in Garden Grove, Iowa and in 1974 from William Penn College in Oskaloosa, Iowa. She was married July 1, 1972 in Weldon, Iowa to Alan R. Frank, who survives. She grew up in Iowa and lived in Anderson for seven years and Mexico, Inda. two years before moving to the Pierceton and Syracuse area in 1986. She retired from the Department of Family Resources in Warsaw after 30+ years of service and formerly worked in the Anderson and Wabash offices.
She was a member of the Church of God in North Webster, the Wawasee Camp of Gideon’s International Auxiliary in Syracuse and formerly attended the Calvary Baptist Church in Oswego.
She is survived by her husband: Alan Frank, Syracuse; a daughter: Katie (Neal) Brown, South Whitley; four grandchildren: Ryan, Amy, Ally and Jay; one sister: Jayma (Ed) Smith, Humestown, Iowa; one brother: Brad (Marty) Upfield, Merry Hill, N.C.
She was preceded in death by her parents, daughter: Amy Frank, in 1976; and son: Nathan Frank, in 1997.
Visitation will be from 2-4 p.m. and 6-8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 16, at the Owen Family Funeral Home, 1001 S. Huntington St., Syracuse. Funeral services will be at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, August 17, 2016 at the Church of God, 300 N. Main St., North Webster with Pastor Jeff Boyer of the church officiating. Burial will follow in the Syracuse Cemetery.
